Methyl acetate
Methyl acetate, also known as methyl ethanoate, with CAS No. 79-20-9, is a colorless, transparent liquid possessing a pleasant, aromatic odor. It is highly volatile and flammable. It is miscible with most organic solvents, such as alcohols, ethers, and hydrocarbons, but only slightly soluble in water. Due to its low toxicity and excellent solvency, it is often used as an environmentally friendly solvent to replace traditional solvents like acetone and methyl ethyl ketone.
