N-Propyl acetate
n-Propyl acetate, also known as propyl acetate, acetic propyl ester, or n-propyl ethanoate, has the CAS number 109-60-4. It occurs naturally in fruits such as strawberries, bananas, and tomatoes. At room temperature, it is a colorless, transparent liquid that is miscible with ethanol and diethyl ether and possesses a distinctive fruity aroma. n-Propyl acetate exhibits typical ester properties and is used in the production of inks, nitrocellulose paints, varnishes, and various resins. In particular, in the ink and printing packaging industries, it has gained widespread adoption as a green, environmentally friendly solvent that can replace benzene- and ketone-based solvents.
