Acetic acid

Acetic acid, also known as ethanoic acid, with CAS No. 64-19-7, is a colorless, transparent liquid that solidifies into ice-like crystals at low temperatures (below 16.6°C); hence, it is commonly referred to as glacial acetic acid. It has a strong, pungent acidic odor and is readily soluble in solvents such as water, ethanol, ether, and glycerol. Its aqueous solution exhibits weak acidity. Acetic acid is an important basic organic chemical raw material widely used in fields including synthetic fibers, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and the food industry.
